griffin mcelroy voice: welcome to my fun comedy show for jokes š in this episode, listen as a man begs one of his closest friends to kill him so he doesnāt forget his missing wifeās face
I know I have a weird sense of humour or w/e, but tbh I just cannot get over Griffin saying āwhat, there canāt be two vampires named Dracula? Thatās like saying there canāt be two bus drivers named Keith!ā I just keep thinking about it and fucking losing it, like thatās the funniest shit. Itās such a good joke.
What if when Taako suddenly got all of his IPRE knowledge back and he just⦠Has a realization that he has been incredibly smart this whole time. But instead of being thrilled by this, he just says in horror, āFuck, Iām a Nerd. Oh Shit.ā
TAZ Episode 69: The Day of Story and Song AU where Merle calls John through one of his Bond Rolls.
–
āI call⦠John!ā
The form before him shimmers and ripples but in the end stays the same as it had been, as instead a portal opens up before him, and he sees the form of his friend. The man heād met and talked with for some thirty-odd years, who always killed him at the end of the day. The man heād embraced not so long ago as he was destroyed by the entity heād encouraged and created.
āMerleāI never expected. That is to say, what do you need me to do?ā
āIs that your question?āĀ
John smiles with only half his mouth, but a chuckle escapes nonetheless. His suit is hanging from him in shreds and his face still has colored streaks of light pulsing through it, but his smile is genuine.
āI need you to motivate that big Shadow Not-John over there to break apart, or maybe do the orbs. Think you can handle that?ā
John surveys the scene.Ā āIs that your question?ā he asks, the smile still in place as he turns, chess pieces materializing in the air next to him. The Black King and the White Knight. He ignites them with that familiar black fire, and throws them forward, capturing two of the remaining orbs.
The shadow creature screams as they are destroyed, and John turns back to Merle, the smile still faintly there, though his eyes betrayed his fear.Ā āIām glad I was finally able to reciprocate your help, Merle. Thought it will never be enough, will it? After all the destruction Iāve caused?ā
He starts floating back, but Merle catches his hand for just a moment before John disappears.
āHey, if it helps, I forgive ya, John"
āWhy?ā John questions, his grip already slipping even as Merle clutches tighter.
āThatās what friends are for,ā Merle smiles and lets go, watching Johnās face spasm in response, his next words unknown and lost as the portal swallows him up.

They donāt talk about the moment on the Starblaster when Merle is brought to the beach. He sits beside John, as informal as heās ever seen him, digging his toes into the sand, staring out at the sunset as the ocean laps at the shore.Ā
Merle sets his hand atop of Johnās where it rests on the sand, and together they sit in silence as the ocean recedes and the sun falls slowly away.Ā
The room they spent countless cycles in, with the pale orange light of a sun ever holding at twilight, never allowed to set and begin a new day, was gone now. Now they were on the ever-changing landscape of the beach. Never the same view, never the same sunset, never the same spray rising from the ocean and foaming on the waves.Ā
John turned his hand around to hold Merleās back, and they sat in silence, shoulders brushing slightly, as the moment stretched.Ā
Once the sun disappeared under the horizon, so did John. He was left alone in the dim evening for a moment longer, missing the feeling of his friendās fingers cradling his own, missing the wasted opportunity and waste of a man who hadnāt been satisfied with his life until it was over. He let out a sigh as he laid back in the sand, and soon a bright light returned him to the Starblaster as if nothing had ever happened.
Perhaps nothing had. But in days to come heād sit out on the beach and watch the sunset and remember his friend.Ā He wasnāt a man that lived with regrets or stayed stuck in the past, but sometimes he would sit out there and let himself wish, just that once, for what could have been.
Lucretia had definitely had taakoās elderflower macarons before the candlenights episode like theyāre one of his signature recipes and she had loved them for 100 yearsĀ
BUT she also knew that they were his own, secret recipe that no-one else knew so she was likeĀ āhmm ok if i eat one i have to be sure to react like iāve never had one of my favourite macarons before, if he thinks iāve had them before heāll get suspicious, ok Lucretia just⦠act⦠naturalāĀ
& long story short thatās whyĀ āhot diggity shit that is a baller cookieā
Lucretia, mentally: nailed it
Taako: haha the whole recipe is in my book!!
Lucretia: ā¦
Lucretia: this pretense has been wholly unnecessaryĀ
*later*
Lucretia: *leafing through a newly purchased copy of taakoās cookbook trying to commit to memory which of his recipes she can and cannot admit familiarity with* okay okay okay this is fine okay
*still later*
Lucretia, sweating: *pointing at recipe for a dish taako made almost every week on the starblaster* hey taako⦠this looks⦠good⦠could you make it??
Taako, drinking a milkshake, only half listening: do i look like i work for free
Magnus: why donāt you just make it yourself thereās instructions right there
Here There Be Gerblins: Okay, letās give this a goā¦Iām not going to have fun, but weāll follow the book and see where it goes from there.
Moonlighting: Fuck the book, letās get some original plot and NPCs up in the mix.
Murder On The Rockport Limited: All right, weāve got the plot, time to get this show on the road. We need more puzzles and mystery thoughā¦how about a full-fledged murder mystery with an adorable boy detective?
Petals To The Metal: ORIGINAL MUSIC. COMPLICATED NPCs WITH TRAGIC BACKSTORIES. HIGH. OCTANE. CAR CHASES. WITH LOTS OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR CREATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING.
Crystal Kingdom: The plot is about to get wild and mysterious as fuck up in here, every NPC has a huge backstory, and there are going to be big consequences for the playersā choices. Also, I fell in love with the boy detective.
The Eleventh Hour: Time to get these players into an open world where they can really make their own choices and develop their characters as they have to face their own mortality and regrets. But then Iām going to turn everything we think we know about these characters on its head. Also, everyone is gay and/or non-binary.
The Suffering Game: *cracks knuckles* ā¦Iām going to just wreck these fools.
