There are two universal truths on the internet:

1) When a site gets taken down, something ALWAYS comes next.

2) Not everyone makes it to what comes next.

Communities are people, and when they go away, some people lose that forever even if others are eventually able to rebuild.

Laugh all you want, but I’ve seen a lot of really vibrant and supportive pockets of Tumblr that, for instance, give trans people a space to define their own sexuality. That is an incredible power that is going to get taken away from them and a lot of people won’t get it back.
