As you might know, I enjoy making things. For a while I’ve been trying to figure out how to marry my love of making things with the work I do as an actor. And now, after months of testing scents, figuring out how to make a wick stand up straight, and wondering what some of the characters from projects I’ve been in would smell like, I’m so excited to open my candle shop, Paper & Slate.
Deciding what different characters from my different projects might smell like in candle form has been so much fun. I’ve only got a few scents for now, but I’m planning on adding lots more over time. Be sure you’re following Paper & Slate on twitter, where I’m planning on having polls over which character candles you’d like to see added to the store!
I have many thanks to give out for all of their help with getting this store running: First, and foremost, the incredible artist @bambzilla-i-am, who has designed all of my labels and logo. She’s incredible and I am so lucky to have her so willingly working on this with me. Second, @seanpersaud, who has done everything from add thoughts on what the smells should be, pick up labels from the print shop, and exclaim “it smells like soap!” when I present him with each new candle. Christopher Higgins for helping me take those gorgeous photos; @tessanetting and @laurenfairweather for sharing their Etsy shop knowledge; @theashleyclements, Laura Spencer, @sineadpersaud, and Blake Silver for giving me their blessings to turn their characters into candles; and finally my Patreon patrons for providing feedback and encouragement throughout the process of making this idea a reality.
